In Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration to commemorate the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862.

In Sun Lakes, it is another great excuse for a party!

Because the bar and restaurant are closed on Sunday, the Food and Beverage Department opted to celebrate early.

The chef put together a delicious buffet of grilled carne asada, al pastor, nachos, tortillas and all the fixings for a party on Saturday the fourth instead. Those with tickets for dinner arrived to the ballroom at 4:30 p.m.

Those who did not want dinner, but came just to enjoy cocktails and dancing were let in at 6 p.m.

The band Retroblast did an excellent job entertaining the crowd with their classic rock tribute.
