Beaumont High School freshman and varsity wresler Jimmy Gauntlett pinned down a massive accomplishment Saturday, June 1 at the Greco State Championships in Fresno.

According to his father and coach, Jim Gauntlett, Jimmy competed at the state level in the 100 lbs. weight division along side five others representing ASG (Academy of Striking and Grappling) in Moreno Valley.

Three of the wrestlers medaled finishing in the top five including Jim’s daughter and incoming Beaumont freshman Megan Valdez, who finished third in the kid’s freestyle event.

Jimmy won the tournament in his weight class and is now the California Greco state champion at 100 lbs. He will go on to represent the California National Junior Duals Team in Tulsa Oklahoma from June 14 through June 23 and will then represent the California National Team in an individuals tournament at the USA Wrestling Nationals in Fargo North Dakota from July 19 through July 29.
