Thomas Allen Howell

Tom Howell passed away at his home May 7, 2019 after a brief illness with his daughter at his side. He was 88.

Tom was born in Moulton, Ala. on Dec 11, 1930 to Rebel Allen Howell and James Kirk Howell, both lifelong educators.

He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University in 1952, and served in the Army and Army Reserves.

While stationed at Camp San Luis Obispo he met Helen Voorhes, and they were married from 1952 until 1960, having three children: Scott, Lauren and Michael.

In 1965 he married Jeannette “Bobbie” Miller and raised her two children Karen and David.

They moved to Cherry Valley and remained together until Bobby’s passing in 2004.

In 2011, he married Jo Ornelas, and they remained in Cherry Valley until her passing in January 2019.

Tom worked for Deutsch Industries in Banning for 32 years, retiring in 1998.

Tom sang bass in barbershop groups nearly his whole life, and enjoyed golf and travel.

Tom was predeceased by his stepson David Haney and, recently, his wife Jo.

He is survived by his children James Scott Howell, Michael Allen Howell (Doris), Lauren (Howell) Kelley, and Karen Zachary (Bruce) as well his brother Billy Howell of Decatur Alabama, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and his brother’s sons Steve and Jack, and their families.

Services will be held June 15th at 11 a.m. at Weaver Mortuary Chapel, 1177 Beaumont Ave, Beaumont.
