Shirley Geraldine Ward

Shirley Geraldine Ward passed away at the age of 88, on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at her home in Beaumont with her loving family by her side.

She was born to the late Wellington and Elva Wilson, Nov 16, 1930 in Compton.

She was the youngest of seven children.

After high school, she went on to beauty school where she earned her cosmetology license in California and Utah.

She was a beautician for 42 years.

She owned Classic Hairstyling in Yucaipa, and taught at the cosmetology school in Redlands.

Her independence, resilience, tenacity, and style are all wonderful examples of her personality and strength of character.

As a mostly single mother of four children, her favorite saying when things would get tough was.

“This too shall pass.”

Life wasn’t easy for her from the start.

She was born during the Great Depression and learned early on that good things come to those who work hard for them and instilled that work ethic in her children.

Shirley was a wonderful artist and pianist.

She was proud of her heritage and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She kissed a few frogs before meeting her prince charming Robert whom she spent many happy years which brought a wonderful closeness and peace for her later in life.

She is survived by her loving husband Robert Ward, Jr.; her children and stepchildren, Sam Webb of Ohio, Susan Adamson of Texas, Sharolyn Buck of Washington, Stuart Webb of Minnesota, Kristin Rigby and Kevin Ward of California, their spouses, her 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She will be buried at the National Cemetery in Riverside. There will not be any services at this time.
