Joe Michaelson

Joe Michaelson, 75, of Banning passed away on Oct. 30, 2018.

Joe was born July 24, 1943 in Ohio. He was a resident of Banning for 18 years and lived previously in Yucaipa for 15 years.

Joe took a lot of pride with his work. He was a school psychologist for many years with the Redlands School District. He loved working with kids. He used to say that was the only game in town. After retiring from Redlands Schools, he joined a private practice in Redlands using his license in clinical psychology and made huge differences in people’s lives. Along with his private practice, he worked with high school age youth living in group homes from Yucaipa to Rialto and Fontana.

When Joe wasn’t working with kids he was going to soccer games and karate tournaments for his grandchildren Nico and Reno Martini. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

His daughter Jennifer would love their conversations together and will always hold his memory close to her heart. He taught his daughter and grandsons to never give up! Fall down seven times, get up 8!

Joe is survived by his daughter Jennifer Martini of Indio; and son-in-law Gino Martini of Indio; sister Anne Michaelson of West Covina; brother John Michaelson of Redlands; grandsons Nico Martini and Reno Martini of Indio.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Teresa Michaelson of Banning; and son Rob Michaelson of Banning.

There will be a graveside service for Joe on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at 12 p.m. at San Gorgonio Memorial Park Cemetery 2201 N. San Gorgonio Ave., Banning, CA 92220. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church of Yucaipa 35177 Beech Ave, Yucaipa, CA 92399.
