James W. Brown

James W. Brown, 83, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Jim carried himself with incredible courage and dignity through this relent

less illness. He was born Aug. 10, 1935 in Anderson, Ind. to Wilbur and Henrietta Brown.

He graduated from Ball State University in 1957 with a bachelor’s degree and later obtained his master’s degree from George Washington University.

Jim was commissioned in the Navy in 1957 and proudly served for 25 years, retiring as a Captain in 1981.

He married Nancy Hawkins on Feb. 2, 1958.

Together Jim and Nancy truly enjoyed their military life, living and traveling all around the world.

After his military career Jim was in medical administration for 15 years.

He and Nancy were blessed in their retirement years living in Sun Lakes

Retirement Community. They raised three children, Bradley, Douglas, and Raeann.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years Nancy; sons, Brad and Doug (Sandy) Brown; daughter, Raeann (Doug) Blue; grandchildren Travis and Payton Blue; sister, Lou Ann Campbell; and three step-grandchildren, Christina (Geza) Simon, Sheree Duncan, and David Duncan.

Services will be held on July 18, 2019 at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church 235 N 2nd St. in Banning.
