Kirby, David Darrel (Dave) 60 of Beaumont passed away at home on the Sunday morning of June 9, 2019.
Dave was a true world traveler and tour guide.
He loved to travel anywhere a boat, train, car or especially airplane would take him.
When he was a boy mowing the lawn, he would put the mower in idle and just stop and look up at the airplanes flying overhead.
As an adult he went to work for United Airlines in the Bay area in different management capacities and then finally working in the tower as a Zone Controller in Denver where he retired in 2015.
He really used the flight benefits from United.
He placed red dots on maps of the world and USA of everywhere he had flown.
He also kept the number of every airplane he had flown on.
But of all of the places in the world he loved, his favorite was Hawaii.
He called it his happy place.
Dave moved to Beaumont in 2016 and for the past 2 years was a Volunteer at the Beaumont Police Department.
He was one of many dedicated people (CVPs) that help keep Beaumont safe.
The friends he made at the Police Department are so amazing and really care about him.
He loved volunteering and loved being part of the Community.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. June 21, 2019 at Weaver Mortuary and Crematory in Beaumont.
Dave is survived by his Wife: Janet Kirby; Children: Heather Franklin (Joe); Leann Wallace-Griffin (Rob); Bill Wallace Jr. (Mariann); Grandchildren: Isabella Franklin (Grandpa’s Girl), Memphis Griffin, Aprille Sato Wallace, and Drake Griffin; Stepmother: Edna Kirby; Brother: Dennis Kirby; Sisters: Linda Kojich; Terri Kennedy (Doug), Sherrie Genovese (Flynn); and special cousins and many friends.
In memory of his mother Marilyn Thompson and father Sterling Kirby.
Rest in peace Dave Kirby.
