Former Beaumont City Councilmember Mark Orozco plead not guilty Thursday morning to violations of his probation from his 2017 arrest on perjury and bribery charges.

Orozco, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, appeared to have lost weight since his three weeks in custody.His hearing was in Dept. 53.

A new charge of child endangerment was filed Thursday against Orozco. Bail for that misdemeanor charge is set at $5,000.

Bail for the two probation violations is $50,000 each.

Orozco will be in court at 8:30 a.m. Thursday Aug. 1 in Dept. 53.

'...Bail for the two probation violations is $50,000 each....' orozco doesn't have $1/2 million in collateral ... even if his wife would let him; orozco can't put his house up as bail - like everyone else in beaumont - his house is worth 25% less than it was when he bought it a decade ago ...
