Beaumont police were present on the Beaumont High School campus after a parent notified the police department Tuesday night that her child had received a social media message regarding a possible shooting that could take place on Wednesday Oct. 24.

The call came in at 7:58 p.m. Oct. 23 from a concerned parent, said police spokesperson Marcedes Cashmer.

“We do have officers up at the high school throughout the day,” Cashmer told the Record Gazette Wednesday morning.

Cashmer said that the police was proceeding with caution and the first officers there arrived at 7:30 a.m. The high school has one school resource officer and other officers were monitoring the campus throughout the school day.

Beaumont Unified School District spokesperson Francinni Zabata said that a phone call, email and text went out to Beaumont High School parents Tuesday night. There also is information on the school district website and its Facebook page.
