Thank you. Hello family, friends, teachers, and guests.
I want to thank you all for taking time out of your night to come and celebrate this momentous occasion of our graduation. Sixth-graders will be graduating to their first year of middle school and us seniors will be taking our first steps into the world but before I start let me introduce myself.
My name is Angeli Hernandez and I have been attending CCS for 9 years. When I first came to CCS I thought I wasn’t going to like it here. It was so different from my old school. New uniform, new teachers, a whole new group of friends who already knew each other.
It was tough getting used to a new system but I've come to love this school. It has shaped me and educated me in ways I am very grateful for.
I’m warning you all now. I have quite a few thank yous. There are just so many wonderful people in my life that I would like to thank and I know I can’t write you all in my speech but know you are all special to me and have impacted my life in ways I am so grateful for. So here we go.
I first want to thank God. I want to thank Him for letting me come to this school and letting me meet so many amazing people. In the time I have been at this school, my faith has grown so much thanks to all the teachers here who pour their hearts and faith into each of the students.
I next want to thank my mom for pushing me to always do my best and I know that sounds cliche but it’s true. She has always been there for me - from putting clothes on my back to being my best friend. She has always given me a wonderful example of what kind of woman I should strive to be. I hope one day I can be a fraction of the woman you are. I love you!
I also want to thank my dad for always believing in me. No matter he he was feeling or what we were going through he made sure I knew he was proud of me. No matter what I was striving for he supported me and encouraged me. He has showed me how to follow God and be a good example in all that I do. Thank you for everything dad. I love you!
Thank you, Diane, for opening your life to me and Grace and loving and treating us as your own children. You have given us so much.
Thank you grace for being someone I can talk to about anything. You are smart, beautiful, and incredible talented and i know you don't always see yourself as such but you are. I know it's gonna be weird not seeing me at school but know I am always there for you.
Thank you Cambria and Bobby for being two of the best siblings I could have. We may not be fully related but you two will always be my family. I am so proud of each one of you. Cambria, you are so smart, beautiful, and have a kind heart. You are an amazing actor, a beautiful singer, and one awesome baker. I believe you will do wonderful things. Bobby you are so funny and the cutest little brother a sister could have. I know I’m not in your lives 24/7 but I love you two so much.
Thank you to my grandparents for giving so much to me and my siblings. Grandma and Grandpa thank you for carting me and Grace back and forth from school and activities and taking time out of your schedule for us. Nana Cici and Papa thank you for opening your house up for impromptu sleepovers and celebration to all of your grandchildren. You have all sacrificed so much for us. I love you all.
The next person I want to thank is Natalee Newbold. I am so grateful to have you as a friend. You are strong, beautiful, and you don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t be. You have pushed me this year to do my best and I’m so proud of us.
Thank you Karla for being one of my best friends. Thank you so much for putting up with this year. You have become like a sister to me. I remember when we first met we hated each other. But now you are someone I can talk to for hours with. I am so blessed to be your friend.
I next want to thank this group of friends for being with me through thick and thin in my high school career. There is so much I could say about each one of these amazing people but if I did we would be here all night. I want to thank Esteban Bonilla, Jacob Mabry, Beatrice Rodriguez, Devin Moscato, Kaleb Schofield, Viviana Lara, Alex Vega, Brian Gomez, and Meaghan McCormack. You have been so kind to me and I’m so blessed to call you all friends.
I want to thank my teachers for educating me and putting up with our crazy class. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. S, Mr. & Mrs. S (the younger), Mr. Brown, Mr. Neiderer, Mr. & Mrs. Moyer, and Mr. & Mrs. Larsen. You all have taught me so much. I have learned life lessons that I will be able to take with me to college and my future.
These past years have been tough but we survived them. All of us have worked so hard to get where we are and now it has paid off. If I can impart any kind of “wisdom” to our upcoming seniors and 6th now 7th graders, it would be to do your best and apply yourself because you are capable of so much. Also, remember to show respect to each other and your teachers.
Above all else, remember to put God first. This is something that has taken me a long time to understand and something I still struggle with today. But God is the one who gave us our talents and brought us here, not by our own doing. He is the one who has blessed us. Remember that everything we do should point others toward God. By doing our best, respecting one another and putting God first, we can be a light in a dark world and bring glory to God.
Thank you all again for coming. Good night.
