Paul (Levi Hand) & Mitch (Mark Lentine) prepare to string Arlene (Stephanie Parshall) up.

Catch A Star Theatrical (CAST) Players, next production, Murder at the Howard Johnson’s by Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick, will open on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Beaumont Women’s Club Community Center, 306 E. 6th Street (corner of Euclid and 6th) in Beaumont.

Other performances are scheduled for Saturdays, March 9, 16, and 23, curtain time also at 7 p.m., and Sundays, March 10, 17 and 24, curtain time at 2 p.m.

Come see how two masters of the comedy genre treat a rather conventional love triangle in a most unconventional way. A dysfunctional pair, Arlene Miller, played by Stephanie Parshall, and her lover, Mitchell Lovell (newcomer to California stages, Mark Lentine) are determined to rid themselves of Arlene’s husband Paul, but just can’t keep their minds on business. Once that misadventure has played itself out hilariously, Arlene and Paul, played by Levi Hand, now reunited after a fashion, decide they must kill the lover, Mitch. But that pair is no more competent than the earlier one. In Act Two, the husband and lover gang up to get rid of the wife, but, as with the earlier schemes, their hearts aren’t really in it. There are laughs aplenty as each of these plots play out. Director, Susan O’Connell, says, “This is one of the funniest scripts I have seen. I hope you’ll agree!”

Catch A Star Theatrical (CAST) Players, Beaumont’s community theater, has been mounting 3-4 plays per year since 2010.
