Long time Sun Lakes resident Caroline Chirico enjoyed a wonderful party and celebration on Saturday, Feb. 21 given to her by her children in honor of her 90th birthday which was actually March 5.

Caroline looked beautiful in an attractive long navy blue dress with a matching beaded chiffon duster and she was so very happy as family and long time friends gathered in the North Clubhouse to enjoy an afternoon of fun and fabulous food.

Two of her four children attended including her daughter Donna Mungo and her husband James from Valley Stream Long Island, and son, Claude Chririco, and his wife Mary Kay, from Van Nuys.

Cousins John and Michelle Wagner came down from their home in Big Bear and other cousins Steve Leidner and Patti Brenna and Emily and Buster Dischiavi also attended.

Caroline and her family are also looking forward to another very large party celebrating Caroline’s 90th where all of her four children, her 8 grandchildren and her 16 great-grandchildren will all be attending in Valley Stream, Long Island on April 18, 2015.

Caroline and her husband moved here approximately in 1989 and she immediately became very active in the community. She has played bridge since moving here and she still enjoys the game whenever she can play.

For about twenty years Caroline planned all of the menus and was in charge of ordering all of the food for the International Culture Club (I.C.C.) monthly dinners. She also was a Square Dancer and performed with the Makua Hula, Sun Lakes Hawaiian Dancers.

Provi Donadio , a close friend of Caroline’s was in charge of making all of the arrangements for the delicious food served at the Birthday party. Thomas Caterers of Hemet provided the dinner.

The guests enjoyed the homemade traditional Italian treats baked by another close friend, Marie Grinceri. Marie served the traditional Italian Biscotti and Pizelle which were absolutely delicious.

After a toast to the lady of the day, it was time for the cake which many of the guests had been eyeing, as they examined the intricate decorations on the gorgeous creation. The centerpiece on the dessert table featured a fabulous pink and white cake piped with “Happy 90th Birthday, Caroline” and created by our own “Bob (the Cake Man) Golchert. Decorated with his unique and intricate artistic roses and edible decorations, it always seems such a shame to cut these masterpieces. But cut it they did and the guests all enjoyed the delicious chocolate and vanilla layers filled with bananas and strawberries they had been waiting all afternoon to sample.

It was an absolutely wonderful party, full of Italian warmth and laughter with a lot of love from family and friends filling the room.
