George and Irene Eichel

George and Irene Eichel are surrounded by their daughters, Hollie and Julie; sons-in-laws, Andrew and Thomas; and grandsons, Ryan, Joel, Luka, and Jakob.

George and Irene Eichel were married on October 8, 1977 in West Covina, California and celebrated 40 years of marriage surrounded by family and friends at the South Clubhouse on Sunday, Oct. 8.

Daughters Hollie and Julie, put together a photographic slideshow to recall many events throughout their 40 years of marriage that was both touching and enjoyable. Julie read a tribute to her parents and shared some of the things that she and Hollie had learned from them as they were growing up.

Julie spoke about their teamwork as parents, the support and encouragement they received, practical life lessons, the value of hard work and living within your means, and having an amazing mother as a role model that taught them how to be wives and mothers.

By the end of their tribute, Irene and many others at the party were in tears. In addition, to their daughters and sons-in-law, Thomas and Andrew, they are also the proud grandparents of four grandsons, Luka, Jakob, Ryan, and Joel who are four of their greatest joys in life.

The Eichels moved to Sun Lakes in 2002 and were two of the original founders of the Young at Heart Club.

Irene is a member of LEGS and was one of the first women to participate in the Sun Lakes Soap Box Derby. They are also members of the Tennis Club.

Before dinner attendees enjoyed appetizers and cocktails while grandchildren and cousins played happily together on the dance floor. Thomas Catering served an excellent dinner for the celebration and anniversary cake was also enjoyed at the conclusion of the meal.

Bad Influence provided the entertainment for the evening and played music for dancing until the end of the evening commemorating 40 years of love.
